Hello all. I decided to take my dad's run around to work for a few days, it's a smart forfour 1.5 petrol. I didn't expect much from it, but fancied a change from the all acomplishing cdi cls I have, and save some fuel money too. What I didn't expect was how great to drive it was- it put a smile on my face straight away.

Now I looked at the figures ant I know it ain't fast- but it feels alive and much quicker than it is, handles likes it's on rails and keeps on accelerating no mater what speed I'm going and even on the motorway. It's a vvti lump and it's just great and despite some whole hearted driving it returned 45 mpg. Looks wise it is a marmite car but I like it and there is enough room for 6' + me!

So it got me thinking, are there any other underated cars out the ordinary but are great fun- over to u . . .

This, from a Micra and Mk2 Golf GTi owner....

I'd say that a CLS Cdi is a pretty accomplished all-rounder, myself.

The Smart For-Four is more or less the same car as the Mitsubishi Colt. Daimler-Chrysler owned must of Mitsubishi Motor from about the year 2000 and these cars were one of the big tie-ups launced a couple of years later.

And you're right. Mitsubishi Colt is greatly under-rated too. Well engineered and relatively inexpensive car which is a great drive.

Pompous arse. I was talking about the smartcar being relative to your needs.

Zing indeed...
