Due to trying to find an affordable decent rear brake conversion I am toying with the idea of using a line lock, as used on drag cars hot rods etc to do burnouts, instead of a handbrake..

Anyone know if this would be MOT legal.. ???

I dont think it will be. I think a handbrake needs to be a mechanical operation I think and independent of the hydraulic circuit in case it fails or is cut etc.

Of course if a conventional lever operated your line lock knobs, would the tester know?

No they are not legal. You must have a seperate parking brake operated either manually or electronically.

Just carry a couple of bricks to use as chocks. Might make hill starts tricky perhaps...

Tie some rope to the bricks?

I put a hydraulic handbrake on my Ram Cobra replica, with a compression sping on the kosher XJ6 handbrake cable. This made the mechanical brake appear to work.
The MOT tester wanted to know how I'd made a Jaguar handbrake work so well!
Maybe you could mock up a 'front handbrake' similarly?
