On the lookout for some new 225-40-18 tyres for the R32.

I have just got through a set of Goodyear Eagle F1's in about 6 months over 15k road miles and a trackday.I bought the F1's through blackcircles (using a discount code from someone on PH) for about £105 per corner (delivered not fitted).

Anybody know of any good offers on premium tyres at the moment? I dont want to pay much more than £100 per corner supplied. Got my first Nurburgring trip in a few weeks, so they need to be good for track but also not so soft that they wear out too quickly.

My tyre fitter keeps trying to push Maxxis on me for about £85 per corner, and he says they are just as good as Goodyear Eagle F1's, but I am dubious.

Thanks in advance.

You should be, Maxxis ended up down with the Wanli and LingLong in a recent tyre test (AutoExpress? - no doubt jon- will be along to link the test on his site).

Spooky - I was just reading that test here

So discounting the Maxxis, any offers on tyre supplying websites I should be looking at?

These seem to be winning all the tyre tests at the moment:

They were 10 years ago.

Now the world's 6th biggest tyre manufacturer moving from mid-range to premium, and OE fit on more and more cars (Ford, Vauxhall/Opel, VW all use them now).

They are in a financial sense, but they are out-performing most premium brands in tests and are OEM for Ford and others.

Anyway, if you want 225/40/18 for less than £100 a corner, budget is exactly what you'll get.

As I said I got 4 Goodyear Eagle F1's for £105 per corner in September, and they're not budget! I'm sure there will be plenty of offers etc that will mean I can get 4 premium tyres for about £400...

Toyo Proxes T1-R x4
£375

Yokohama S306 x4
£353

Not sure about this particular Yokos version, but the Proxes have a good name for themselves.

Not checked them out, but I understand that kwik-fit had an offer where you got 35% off for 4 tyres

I fancied some Toyo Proxes, but I heard they have a very soft sidewall, and the R32 is heavy, so would wear them very quickly.

Any other websites to be looking at aside blackcircles?

I think it ended at the end of May. I was pricing some up for my Dad and this "special offer" which didn't include fitting etc was beaten by Blackcircles.com at their regular prices who were in turn beaten by Costco (fitted). (Bridgestone Turanza ER300 205/55/16)

Camskill? I have used Kumhos in the past and thought them pretty good, strong sidewalls on the KU31.

Cheers for the link.

Camskill have Toyo Proxes PX4 for £81 per tyre, compared to blackcircles at £105 each. They seem like they have harder sidewalls than the TR1...

Just going to research PX4's a bit

Auto express did run a budget tyre test, but I don't recall a Maxxis tyre being involved. Maxxis are making strides in motorbike tyres, I wouldn't be surprised if their car offerings start to get better.

Regarding other points in the thread - Hankook are the new falken / toyo with the Ventus S1 Evo, if you can find them I'd recommend those above anything else. Failing that, here's a list of tyres between £80-£100 (so around your budget) and of that list i'd be straight on the Uniroyal Rainsport 2 or the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas.

Any good?
I haven't used these suppliers yet, but the prices seem keen for the tyres I'm looking at too.
