Hi
A bit new to all this sort of thing (apologies)
I have just bought a corsa b for my first car, and it came fitted with a CD30 radio system. I have been told that i can remove this unit (excluding screen etc.) and have it replaced with just a surrounding which i can place a new separate head unit in, is this correct?
And also, i was wondering if this is the case whether anyone could help me with knowledge on a good sound system, head-unit and speakers with preferably a budget of under £150?
Thanks

  • Correction - HU is CD30 MP3 - But been looking over various other forums today and found that changing the HU would be my best plan for better quality sound etc. as the front speakers at least are decent enough if the line is amped to all 4 speakers?, or this is what i've heard. I don't know the rms of the car speakers if anyone has the knowledge that would be muchly appreciated But new HU and have it amped is what i've heard are the first best plans for what i want to achieve.
And to use http://www.bluespot.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/caw1232-0... and purchase one of these to go inside http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_pa...

Id replace the headunit 1st and see how it sounds as in my experience vauxhall speakers are pretty good, and if you spend £100 on a headunit £15 on the surround and spend the rest on speakers, the new speakers will be worst than the original ones

yeah its for a little future project idea at the moment but yeah i think thats how i'll go, i was just weary of if i bought one of the Double DIN HU's that it would maybe not perfectly connect and with the LCD display and steering wheel gadgets :S but thanks for the help so far smile i think thats the way i'll go about it, and maybe amp the HU to the existing speaker line

I never thought I'd say this:

HALFORDS ARE YOUR FRIEND.

They have a computer system which can tell you anything you want to know about ICE in a Vauxhall.

You either havnt got a Corsa B or you havnt got a CD30 MP3. Looking at your profile, its a 1.2 Twinport so its a C facelift. I would assume an SXi or a Design if it has the MP3 unit. Dont go in to Halfrauds getting your model wrong or they will try to rape you.

I've had a new HU, subs and and amp (for the subs only) in a few vauxhalls in the past. With the standard 4 speakers in doors with no amp.
Sound has been fantastic.

I'm not sure how/if u can connect the LCD display and steering controls. However I could recommend an
alpine IDA-X.... headunit particularly if you use an iPod.

Yeah i was thinking off taking it to the place of hellfords but wasn't sure what they'd be able to do for me.
just found this which i would need (http://www.bluespot.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/caw1232-03-adaptor) and then buy a Double DIN headunit

Leads for the steering wheel buttons are about £30 and for the display are about £40 and not many headunits support the screen anyway, if you don't connect a headunit to the screen it will still show the time temp etc

oh and

corsa b

corsa c

Yeah Corsa C Facelift. Posher headlights, no black lines on front bumper. What spec is it tho, Highspec headlamps, no fogs and alloys? Is that a breeze? Good headunits are the JVC navi/Ipod/Reversing Camera/DVD units. VX fitted them as standard to the SXi intouch because they drive the display and work with the controls. Is a double din unit and should be about £500 if IIRC.

Yeah sorry about all the confusion guys confused
But yeah Alloys and yep a Double DIN HeadUnit in there, the surround for one i found at around £35, but advisory for an actual unit would be ideal, not wanting to spend loads but any ideas would be great for a few options. smile
Thanks
