I was doing about 37/38ish in a 40 and I could see two pigeons in the road. I slowed down and kept slowing down until they moved. One of them moved but his mate just stood there playing with his balls. I heard him crunching under the car as I went over it. When I looked in my mirror, I saw him walk away.

I feel bad now, sorry animal lovers. frown

I never slow down for birds unless they're really fit.

I hit a pigeon on the motorway a couple of years ago. Result was a draw. Pigeon turned into a cloud of feathers but managed to break the levelling arm on the headlight.

I hit a bat last sat night. I found it the next morning sitting on the scuttle with its wings spread over the screen. Ive never seen a bat up close before. But a bats a mammal so doesnt really qualify for this thread but still.

I was getting a lift from a mate a while back doing about 30 in a built up area. We came upon an odd looking mini-stork thing standing in the middle of our lane looking a bit lost. Mate doesn't slow down at all - the thing just looks blankly at us and we mow it down like so much wheat under a combine...

I am horrified into silence, mate makes some lame comment about expecting it to fly away frown

This happened today to me also. So for the poor picture, it was taken with a Blackberry - it looked like the remnants of a KFC bucket, bones sticking out all over.

There's the story someone on here posted about a trip through france.

Basically his mate is asleep. A bird hits the bonnet/screen and leaves a smear of blood up the screen.

His mate wakes up and says "What was that"

Driver: "French kid playing in the road. He won't do it again."

Mate: yikes

Certainly was. All it left was a load of bones and a pigeon leg sticking out of the vent. Oh, and a great big grey skid mark up the bonnet from where the top half of the bird skidded.

There's a cracking video on youtube of a Bentley on the Gumball run some years ago with a bird lodged in the huge grill. Wish I could find it.

I was on the M6 up to Warrington in a 911 scooting along quite nicely thank you in the outside lane when this duck ran onto the motorway. From where I was I judged that at it's currant speed I would just miss it so just braked a bit.You guessed it...fker got all the way to the central res then turned and started back.Ran right over it,at 80 mph.For the next 10 mins, all the way to work I'm thinking about the damage to the porker..Get to work, jump out,no damage, couple of feathers, that's all..

Anyhoo for the next couple of hours it's bugging me...I'm never THAT lucky,so I go out for a closer look. This time kneel on the ground checking the bodykit...And there is the bloody ducks decapitated head, neatly chopped off, staring back at me from inside one of the porkers brake cooling ducts.

A few years ago, doing about 40 I ran was driving along a country road. Suddenly, from nowhere (well the hedge) a rabbit runs out *crunch* under the front left *crunch* under the back left.

I look in my rear view mirror and see it hobble off into the bush. How in hell it managed to survive to two wheels gong clean over it I have no idea.. I do doubt it lived much longer. I felt very very bad.
