I saw one in gorgeous lime green being put on the back of an AA recovery van early Saturday morning at a service station on the M6. Looked absolutely immaculate.

What engines do these modern Campers have these days?

Some of the Danbury ones have a Total Flex 1.4. Friends have one - was looking at it last week. Saw loads of new ones down by the surfing beaches of North Devon

I'm guessing a 1.4 would be a bit lacklustre. Maybe a TSI would make it better?

Nope, 6 cyl aircooled 911 engine is what you want.

Sort of defeats the purpose though as they are a shocking drive with the power they don't already have.

Bit of a lifestyle choice, like series landrovers etc and although my head would say a nice 2nd hand coachbuilt motorhome would be better to drive, faster, more comfortable and much more practical a bay window is like a little dog that keeps stting in the house. You forgive it and love it because it's got 'character'
