Well due to the fact im going prematurely senile, ive managed to lose the alarm fob for my car in the house, and after turning the place upside down, no luck frown

Unfortuantly, I locked the car with it, so its going nowhere, and ive got work tomorrow at 12 frown

The car is a BMW E36 328i, and Ive put it in here and not the BMW section becaue this is slightly urgent and theres more coverage here.

Is there some secret way to turning it off? The BMW manual says use the magnetic key, ive only got 2 drivers keys, and they didnt work, it still went mad.

If there is no secret way of turning it off, how do i go about getting a new alarm fob? Is it a case of going to bmw, and paying probably extortionate prices for a new one to be coded, or can a used one be made to work?

Thanks in advance

If there was a magic answer (which I doubt there is), nobody is going to give it out on the tinterweb.

Call an expert/BMW.

Not sure if it'll help, but with some cars you can put the key into the drivers lock and twist it to enter a pin code that will disable the alarm. I'm not sure if your car has it or not and being away on business I can't get to a comp or have my car handy to help further. If you know of any pin codes that go with your alarm try twisting the key in the lock to enter the code (all the way right, slightly back but not re-centred, further again for a higher number, central again to accept the number). Hope this makes sense.

Right, worst alarm ever. I just went outside, cant do the key trick mentioned above, the alarm just goes constantly.

However, i can still start the car! It runs, with the lights flashing and siren going, so in theory drive it, but i work on a military base, and they might have something to say about that hehe

if you don't find another solution and you'll be back from work before it gets dark, you could try pulling the fuses for the horn and the headlights wink

If it's the standard alarm, I'm surprised it doesn't have an ignition cut out.

You'll need to duck into the passenger footwell then and accelerate towards the gate

Do you not have the little key to turn off the siren? Then if you drive it for long enough without opening the door the hazzards will stop eventually. The battery died in my key fob on the M3 when I was at work last week and didn't have a choice but to get home!

rofl

If you look under the bonnet, is the alarm coming from the horn, or it's own siren? Surely the key is to disconnect that if it is. If not, surely you can just disconnect the alarm unit, or get a car sparky out first thing in the morning??

Good luck!!

hehe

How about just disconnecting the siren for now? Does it flash the headlamps of the hazards? If the latter you'll be fine
