I think its about time someone did a poll on who to use for wheel refurbishing its always a question raised in the forums - recently BJV who are recommended regularly on here have decided to stop taking on private work unless the wheels are couriered to them or the car is physically dropped to them. Their prices were good and the finish was great i had about 7/8 sets of different wheels finished by them in the last 10 months everytime i was impressed.

However it would be good to see who you recommend - and if they offer a free collection delivery service to which area?

If theres any other companies that i should add to the poll just add it in - or if the Moderators could it would be good

B*gger. I was looking at using the BJV collection service in the next few weeks as they aren't too far away.

Only time I needed a refurb so far the alloy went to Lepsons so voted for them. Top, top work.

Recently had some done by The Wheel Specialist and they're absolutely fantastic - better than new. I got a discount code and they don't work out any dearer than having a mobile spray paint bloke round and the finish is flawless.

I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

I get my magnesium wheels done by Roger at www.thewheelrestorer.co.uk. Used to use BJV for normal wheels but haven't been over for there a while. Do they still allow you to drop the wheels off in person?

Did a very nice job on my spiders. Won't use anyone else.

PX Wheels have an interesting business model whereby they swap your wheels for identical refurbed originals which saves you being off the road at any point. Good finish, too, if the MX5 Sport wheels they did for me are anything to go by.

I've just sent my wheels to refurbished last Saturday.

I did a quick search, it seems BJV got a lot of Bad rep over customer service, eg. if something went wrong it wasn't their problem.

There was quite a few good reviews on thread but it seemed it was from the same two posters who by the looks of it could have something to do with BJV.

I've sent mine too Lepson's to be refurbed, so far good service and when I pick them up I will post the results. Oh and Lepson's seemed like the only company who didn't really get any bad reviews.

Used Lepsons, they chipped the powder coat around one of the bolt holes. Then when I had to get another one done to match the other 3 (one got wrecked) they couldn't replicate the 45° machined lip on the wheel even after I'd sent pictures, spoken to the guy who was going to do it etc etc. Got there in the end but it involved 4 separate trips from Brighton to North Kent!

Used BJV too, for the price they are very good and can turn it around fast. However, they can be a bit light on the powder coat, the rears of my wheels have light patches where they didn't cover that well.

Out of those 2 I'd go back to BJV.

The only one of those that I've used is BJV.

I'd recommend one of the others. frown

Speaking to the owner as she dropped the last set of wheels back to me only on Tuesday - she said dropping the wheels to them in person is no problem. They now operate Collections only on Tuesdays and then drop off on the following Tuesday for trade - its their prices i found hard to beat but i am keen to find another company that operates collection delivery for a good price!

Out of interest what are lepsons prices roughly?

^ This. I've had ten wheels done by them altogether (two sets plus two repairs after stupidity on my part) and they've all been excellent, and are still in great condition.
