Insurance quote for Boxster RS60 Spyder as a 'computer programmer'; £1200. As a 'computer analyst' £1500.

No, I don't understand it either.

That is strange.

Last time my dad looked at insuring me on his discovery they came back with £17 for a day or £220 for 6 months until the end of the policy.

Ive had the same sceanrio as the OP when adding friends on for a euro trip. Cheaper for the rest of the term rather than adding on 2 weeks.

When we went last year I just added one onto my policy to begin with after realising that it saved around £100 in the first place too!

Unfortunately that is correct.

Most insurers have a standard rate for a 'temporary driver', which is generally higher than just simply adding on the driver.

I've been in the industry over 4 years now and I still don't understand why hehe

If someone's on for a weekend, they're likely to make the "most" of it, in a car they are unfamiliar with. Ergo they are more likely to stack it.

I suspect this is true if I have access to a car for 6months I have an interest in keeping it in good nick and being careful borrow it over night and I may try and get the most out of it.

Move house about 400m away. Inform insurer that 330d is changing home = £40 charge.

The phone back to say, can you the wife on the insurance = £40 refund!

Eh? (they've clearly never seen the wife's driving)

They are a funny sort, aren't they?

I bet 95% of people do not get a quote for the remainder of the policy either.
