What grease would you use to put on the roof catches of a soft top to stop them from rattling ?

Yeah, I use white lithium grease on the mechanism on my 911 cabrio - it's also good on the rubbers and seals to stop them drying out and squeaking.

Got some in a tube. I squeeze it onto my finger and apply that way. All the catches are visible so can get the grease where I want it.

Hmm, I'd want to know the materials involved before any recommendation.

Metal catches in hood combined with metal rollers set in plastic moulding on top of windscreen.

I'd be using a silicone grease on the hood catches, wary of grease getting on the soft top material, silicone is fairly benign on most materials.
Windscreen part, because of the plastic moulding, again silicone or a plastics grease.
I wouldn't spray any grease either but brush it on the relevant areas.
If it's in aerosol form, I spray it into a container, let the solvent evaporate a bit and then brush it on.

Silicone grease is too thin. It lubricates the catches which in turn creates the catches to rattle non stop. The can of lithium grease has a small red nozzle fitted, so you can apply the grease quite accurately, allowing you to build the wax up in layers. I put a plastic bag around the roof catches to stop any splashes getting on the vinyl roof.

On inspection the lithium grease has dried quite waxy and while driving into work this morning the rattling has stopped.

Thanks for the above tip, will try next time.

Lithium grease is great until it rains, it will run off.(or has where i put it on door hinges leaving greasy marks down the paint where the drain holes are).
