So, just insured my car. I disclosed a fault accident and the 3 points I have, no probs! Then the guy told me there was another accident on the data base against my registration mark (cherished plate). In October '08 a catering van reversed square into the back of my car. My car was parked, legally, whilst it was hit, with no occupants. 2 workmates actually witnessed it, and it was a ridiculous piece of driving by the caterer!!! Anyway, once this accident flagged up the guy said it was increasing my premium bu £120!!! Saying I'm a bad risk as I've been involved in 2 accidents and statistically more likely to have more!! Surely it's not right that someone is penalised for someone else's complete stupidity and incopitancy as a driver!??

Has anyone else experienced the same or have any advice on how I can claw this £120 back which I feel has been charged to me unfairly??

Yeah, that's perfectly normal.

I can kind of see the point - if you've been hit whilst parked, I can see that there would be an increased statistical risk of being hit whilst parked again based on the kinds of car parks that you tend to leave the car in. Whether that's true in your particular case or not isn't relevant, really, as they can't analyse the exact driving habits of every customer.

Don't blame the insurers, blame the catering driver. In theory I guess you could sue him for the expense, but I've never heard of it actually happening.

Surely they should review each and every individual case? After all we are paying an absolute fortune for our insurances these days!!?

My car was parked with the catering van right behind it, back to back. The girl just jumped into the van, threw it in reverse, shot back maybe 12 feet to utilise an inshot on the opposite side of the road to make a 'U' turn. My workmates said they could not believe it!! They had never seen such stupid driving, ever! She walked from the building past them, to her van, and "had" to have noticed my car parked behind her the way she approached her van! Yes I am a bit pi55ed off and I feel hard done to having another £120 quid extorted from me!! Surely there are lots of people being penalised in such an unfair way? The insurers are having their cake and eating it, as they will be increasing both my insurance, and the caterer's insurance!!

Fair??? Not a b1oody chance!!!
