Hi,

Does anyone have a contact number for Kumho UK at all? The website doesn't seem to list one and the one I found just rings and rings.

Desperate for tyres for my car, no one seems to have them and I have been told they may have been discontinued frown

Thanks

Sadly not. Michellin make the size, but at nearly £400+ for the rears and £200+ for the front and no guareentee how old they are (they might be "new" but they could be nearly 3+ years old) forget it. There are no other companies that do a matching set.

Kumho are out of stock for loads of sizes right now. Seems people have suddenly woken up to the fact that they are pretty decent tyres. That and fact they are the control tyre for a few different series.

What size tyres are they?
235/40/18 + 295/35/18s?

Toyo T1Rs cover that

It should be possible to validate the age based on the DOT code on the sidewall if that helps?

(I know that last one was about motorhomes but should be the same logic)

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that. Problem is a couple of tyre dealers I have spoken to don't have them in stock and have to order direct from Michelin-and they won't state this info frown

Try here http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/ and speak to Dougal (IIRC), very knowledgable chap - alternately try 0845 366 1535 it is the UK Michelin technical help line, they should be able to help you.

Ah, i see your problem.

The only hints i can get are BF Goodrich from the US, and i'm pretty sure US tyres have different ratings so might not be available for EU markets.

BMW/Alpina had a similar problem a few year ago when their one-off size of 265/35/17 Pilot Sports were discontinued.

The options were chose a different size, or keep a vintage set for Concours

Thank you, Longstone do list them but I am loathed to spend that much on the tyres, but I may not have any choice. Will try Michelin tech help too, thank for that.

Totally silly situation when you consider how "mass produced" Testarossa's were. Not sure the impact of larger/smaller tyres would be on the car and also from an insurance point of view.

Falken which I have on there at the moment were discontinued years ago. Bridgestone don't make them anymore either.

It's actually a fairly common problem in the classic car world, I think some Alpina fans did manage to get Michelin to do a small continuation run, but that's all over now.

As for insurance legalities, either changing tyre sizes isn't too much of a problem from them, or they turn a blind eye, as there are many other in the same boat.

A search on your tyre size leads to many TR owners asking the same thing.
