Speed Comparison chart
Discussion
Silly question time, different modes of transport are measured in different ways to determine relative speed, but how does it compare?
For example, speed boat are measured in knots, but how fast are they going compared to a modern car? Airplanes boast massive speeds of 500+MPH, but they dont look very fast when your in the plane or when you look up at them in the sky , are they literally flying that fast compared to a car?
And why not just measure all speeds in the same unit, is there some scientific reason why we cant measure boats travelling in MPH?

Actually, that's a fair question, it's because MPH are heavier than water so they sink. It's because the sea is always moving so your 'miles' keep changing position and length.
Obvious really.

You have to tie MPHs together so they expel water and stay afloat. Hence a 'knot' is slightly less than a MPH because of being tied up.

Quoted because I feel an OP delete coming on. For example, speed boat are measured in knots, but how fast are they going compared to a modern car? And because i have a feeling this one is going to be priceless.

OP is true to his word Airplanes boast massive speeds of 500+MPH, but they dont look very fast when your in the plane or when you look up at them in the sky , are they literally flying that fast compared to a car?
