Just got back from a customer event at Mercedes-Benz World. Aside from some nice food and a good morning there we got access to GT5 (damn good but span off too much and only got 9'27'' on the ring) and also passenger rides on the handling circuit and skidpan.

Now, I've had some pretty fast cars in the last 9 years but, holy mother of V8 Gods, nothing like the C63 AMG Saloon I went out in today. The acceleration is a given, you expect it to be staggeringly fast but nothing prepared me for the sheer amount of lateral grip they have and also how well balanced they are when driven at and over the limit. I was amazed.

....and as we went from 110 to 20 in about five foot, I realised the standard brakes are rather special too. Not much fade after 5 full throttle laps either.

Finally the skid pan. Again, very composed, no need for much correction, just a bit of power and a few degrees of correction.

Simply awesome and my eyes have been opened up very wide.

I want.

My favourite fast saloon.

There's a cream one on my road. It sounds awesome. Next to my steed, easily the best sounding car in the vicinity (this includes F366 & 430, and some fruity 911s).

Good call. I hadn't seen the estate version until one passed me on the M25 earlier this week.
Really rather bloody nice (and I usually don't like Mercs)

Not sure but there was an advert in the gents saying 55 min on track doing everything for £150 which I think is pretty good value. No idea about the excesses but as it's under instruction i doubt you'll be the one paying if you do happen to fly off into Weybridge.

The drivers there are all very good so anyone would be in good hands.

I think I'm going to surprise the missus with it next month. She'll love it and will then allow me to get something similar when it comes to getting the R32.

£150 for no grief is a bargain.

They still are, depending on when you go. I did a 60 min experience (got an SL63 to myself for about 55 minutes) - and they've been ringing me up asking if I want more for £120..

Worth checking beforehand, the prices quoted here are slightly more but we've been round half a dozen times at least and there always seems to be a special offer on the day..

I'm sure if I paid for Kate (missus) to have an hour in the AMG experience they wouldn't charge too much to take Chloe out in a select few AMGs smile To be hoenst, I'd ask them to throw it in.

I must say ive been very lucky this last year in regards to AMG,s I love them and i work for a guy who collects cars (I cant say much) he has a S65 (612 BHP) and SL63 and out of the collection inlcuding a 599 and a 430 these are my favourite. The s65 is just lethal and mindblowingly fast but feels like your sitting still. there is very little noise inside but the acceleration is only evident when you look in the mirror very dangerous for a licence that is. Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to drive the SL63 from here in Mallorca to London then a week later brought it back to Mallorca (it was serviced in the UK) I have to say a stunning trip and one of the best things ive ever done. got some great pics of the trip and even better video clips haha the sound of the sl63 is to die for got so many looks and the tunnels coming out of barcelona was a 15 min giggle. Best thing ive ever done in my life time im hoping to do it again soon. Im hoping one day to own a c63 that was you get the sound without the cost of the SL but id be happy with a slk55 even though its not quite the same but if anyone gets the chance there great. I must adimt though steady 18 miles to the gallon I managed to fill the car up 5 tanks to the top in one single day I have to admith that was a first and I was glad I wasnt paying! Definately my fave cars out there. I would up load a few pics if I knew how!
