Initial outlay is the same (I appreciate that two will have a greater ongoing cost)

Which option would you take?

Hmm, that's a tricky one, I'd probably go for the two car option but I do like those 130i MSports.

130i for me. I bloody love them.

A fan of the 928 too but not enough to spend the rest of the time driving a 318.

Everyone should own a weekend/summer toy.

Simple! A straight-six hatch is a great car to drive; but it is no substitute for a V8 GT. Do you have a garage? Go for the dual option.

Why not just the 928 and forget the 318?

What if you catch the train to work and your only car is only driven at the weekend? if you buy a weekend toy your first car will never get driven. Thats my problem, by an Elise and my E30 will do less than 100 miles a year, but still want to keep it confused

I don't use a car Mon-Fri at all. Public transport wker until the weekend.

Just the 928 wouldn't work as three of us often travel across Europe.

I flippin love the 130i but if you do enough miles and have enough space to warrant two cars I'd go for the 928 and something else.

However I'd swap the 318 for something else - hot hatch perhaps.

4 cylinder BMWs are wrong. Except the original M3 of course.

In the brochure maybe.

Not for real adults it doesn't.

Nope. My son is tall - 6'2" - and dead skinny.

If you just use a car at the weekend I'd say none of the above, plenty of nicer cars out there IMHO.

If it was a commuter v weekend toy then I'd take the porker option.

Does the 130i MSport 5dr have decent rear seats/headroom?

Well. You say that...

En route I also considered an X350 XJR and a 2001 M5. Trying to mix functional with enjoyable.

I am not Tom Cruise, but LadyV8 is Katy Holmes, so he can sit behind her wink

Can't see any point in a 318 anything. And don't like the 1 series - it looks like a breadvan as a 3 door, and like a mong styled it as a coupe.

I'll take the 928 and some petrol tokens please.
