Morning,

Bloke in work put his car in for a MOT yesterday. Its failed on "nearside upper (sill) seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded".

Is rust a common issue with the modern(ish) Corollas? I know they suffered quite badly in the 90's.
I was surprised a 8 year old car would fail an MOT on corrosion.
Although it should be covered under the anti-corrosion warranty, I imagine they'll try to wriggle out of it if possible!

Cheers.

I believe there is a 10/12year anti corrosion warranty and as long as the car hasnt been modified i doubt they will try too hard to wriggle out of it - its a fairly serious issue..
