European Breakdown Cover
Discussion
Just about to have a 2 week hoon around Europe and trying to decide what breakdown cover to go with.
I am concerned by the clause stating that they will only repatriate the vehicle if it cannot be fixed within 7 days. But what if something very expensive breaks, i dont wnat to be ripped off by a dealer in France. I would want it fixed at my local specialist for a much lower price and to my standards.
Does anyone know the best way to get the breakdown company to send the car home as soon as possible? Or suggest a company who will do that no questions asked without costing a fortune?
Many thanks

I dont know the inns and outs of it, but if you have a major failiure and the repair requires a specialist... then you should be able to argue that re-patriation is the better option....
I have just bought a policy with this company... they seem pretty good value for money

I always use Europ Assistance for the Fezza - in fact I bought my annual multi trip policy just yesterday for £85.

I rang Green Flag for a long chat earlier. Turns out it costs them £2000 to repatriate the car so they will try and fix it on the continent if at all possible. Even to the point of keeping the car in the garage beyond the end of the holiday and paying one persons fee's to go all the way back and get it (upto £700 costs). Nevertheless all parts and labour must be covered by the owner.
On the plus side you are allowed to have them transport the car to another garage within reasonable distance for a second opionion. They will also deliver parts to you from the UK if you want to source them yourself.
