I have a T reg (1999) Honda Civic. Last Sunday night, at the end of a 60 mile journey, I experienced the following problem:
In gear trying to accelerate the rev counter goes up but the car didn't accelerate as it used to do.

So yesterday, I took to the car to a local garage and they informed me that the clutch is worn out and need replacing. Google search I have done confirms the symptoms with the diagnosis of the garage. The clutch is also starting to smell.

I have now stopped driving the car, but, I still would like to drive the car to one or two garages to get prices and opinions.

My question to the forum is, is it safe to drive the car and how long can I drive the car before total clutch failure?

Thanks

Id say definitely a worn clutch - shouldn't be a massive deal, and a fairly simple job.

What quote has the garage given you?

Thanks for you comments.

In the last 10-15 mins I have been ringing few garages. I have been given the following prices:
Main dealer: £563
Independent garages: £450 , £533 and the cheapest from Nationwide Autocentre: £380
