Why can't people bloody indicate at roundabouts?

Why do a high percentage of women drivers NEVER let you out at Junctions?

Why do a high percentage of women drivers NEVER acknowledge when you give them right of way?

Is it so sodding hard to do any of the above?

That's four questions smile

1) It's not that people [i]can't[i] indicate at roundabouts, its just that they aren't bothered.

2) Either because they are unaware of their surroundings or because in their heads "they're worth it!"

3) See 2.

4) Not really no.

Because they are bad drivers

Because they don't have to give you right of way when it's not your right of way. Roads are designed so that major roads have priority over minor roads and therefore traffic is supposed to flow better. If you let people out, the flow stops.

What do you want them to do, shake your hand and personally say "thanks"? If you're letting them out and making everyone behind you wait, you've done no-one any favours.

Meh. You're sexist.

1. Because most people are lazy and stupid. Do an IQ test, note the result, then realise that the mean average IQ is 100. Ergo, most of these roundabout morons probably have an IQ of about 70-80, which means they can't add 3 and 2 together, or perhaps that they think American Idol is good television. It's hardly surprising therefore that they can't remember what it says in the Highway Code. Good driving is about avoiding morons, so it's best to just accept it and be cautious at roundabouts.

2. Without wishing to be too sexist, a high proportion of women think cars are just about image, and don't understand that some of us just like driving. Therefore, when they see me in my Elise they don't think "he loves cars", they think "flash git, I'm not letting him out". I know plenty of exceptions to this rule, but most are PHers and not the average woman! smile

3. See above. I've also noticed that women almost never say thank you when I hold doors open for them at work, hold the lift door for them, or give them priority at the bar if the barman asks who was first. Not my prejudice, just what I've noticed.

4. Nope, but see above.

Sexist?.....not at all

I just find it irritating when i give right of way in a narrow street some people find it so hard to raise their hand in thanks.....is it that hard?

It also boils my piss when i am waiting to right turn at a junction and the oncoming traffic is at a standstill due to traffic lights or congestion that rather than allow you access they pull up to the car in front....why?

In that situation, I agree, you really should let someone out.

I think some people just don't think. Equally common is being let across when waiting to turn right when the car letting you across needs to slow right down to do it, yet there's nothing behind them, so it would have been far easier for them to just continue. People just don't engage their brains half the time.

Not saying thank you for letting people out though really annoys me. How hard is it just to be a bit courteous?
