Astra MK3 2.0 CDX 16V cambelt change HELP!

Right, my cheap runaround needs a water pump, therefore I am changing cambelt and rollers while I am at it.
I got as far as the bottom pulley when I undid the 4 little bolts ( not the centre big one) thinking the pulley will just fall off so I can have access and remove the cambelt behind it.No luck.Hit it with a hammer to loosen it, no good.
How the hell do you remove the bottom pulley on these cars?
Presumably they put 4 bolts to remove the pulley without the need to undo the big bolt at the centre right?
Do I need a special tool to remove the pulley or is it just a question of plenty of WD 40 and hammer action.
I am going mad at trying everything with no success.
Anyone had this experience before, care to share a solution?
