Looking for some info on removing a windscreen and if the car will pass an MOT or not.

Basically, looking at building a very lightweight (compared to the car it's based on) track car. And in doing so it's then going to be a speedster, so no roof and no windscreen.

The car will have a cage so it'll be plenty stiff.

What i'd like to know is, if the windscreen is removed will the car still be able to pass an MOT?

Are cars like the Atom and 2-11 MOT'able because they never came with a windscreen?

I seem to remember something with regards to needing wipers if the screen is over a certain height, so all i will need is a little "wind deflector" where the windscreen would be?

Cheers,
Olie

No windscreen no need for wipers or for windscreen demisting aka the heater for the MOT

But despite being a legal necessity for windscreen demisting it is not part of the MOT

Excellent, so that can be removed too, great news.

So no issues with removing the windscreen from a car originally designed with one?

Slightly O/T, but wouldnt a cloth suffice as a way of demisting? Surely you would be prosecuted for driving with obscured vision (due to misted up windscreen), the offence wouldnt be demister not working/fitted.

It may be classed as a modification to the chassis and therefore require an IVA, especially if you are removing the entire roof not just the screen.
