... and you find some plonker has gone and bought something silly whilst away!
Before taking my recent 2 week holiday, I was charged with showing the SiL and BiL around a few motors by the wife. Evidently (although I tried my utmost to convince them otherwise) they need to "upgrade" their 53 reg focus to a "people carrier" since having ONE (yes, just one) sproglet!
So, I enthusiastically showed them around some 1 year old (they still want a decent warranty) examples of cars with 7 seats and flexible interior layouts etc. Looked at an S-Max, a Zafira and some 5 seater estates too. We had long discussions that they really need not pay the premium for a DERV as SiL covers about 9k miles per annumn. One over-riding mantra from me was "don't buy Frech, let's avoid dodgy electrics".
So, we got back from holiday yesterday and went to see the nephew, and SiL says "gues what, we bought a car last weekend". Oh excellent says I, "what did you go for in the end...?"
"Well, we have to wait until September for the new 60 plates, but we've bought a Peugeot 5008, it's the Diesel model and only cost us £23,500, they even gave us £1700 for the Focus"
A brief look has the base model at £17 OTR, jesus, what have they spent the extra 6k on? Oh well, I'll be laughing all the way to the bank when they sell it at no money in a 3 years because "it's out of warranty, so will conk out soon"
