Paint Code - Where to get it?
Discussion
Hello All,
Am facing a bit of a problem - I'm sure it's not unique, but can't find any previous threads that provide an answer.
I'm getting a hardtop made for my AC Cobra 212 S/C and want it to match the bodywork colour (red). Problem is I can't find/don't have the paint-code to match.
I've phoned Halfrauds who helpfully informed me it was impossible to get a paintcode from a registration number and that I needed to speak to my "main dealer" - which is helpful as AC Cars went into receivership some time ago.
Does anyone know how I can get hold of the code?

Thanks.

If you cant find the code, try this http://www.paints4u.com/ProductDetails.aspx?produc...
I'll be using it soon, and they can mix it in an aerosol as well.
Oh and I wouldnt bother with halfords, they gave me a crap paint match.

If you want a good match then I wouldn't bother matching by paint code, there's so many factors involved that getting a match just by code is a totally hit or miss affair and can disappoint.
Take your car or a coloured bodypart to a paint factors or bodyshop and get them to match it by eye.
The only trouble is paint will dry to a different shade than in the can so you really need to spray a test piece to confirm it matches.
Personally, if you want a decent match, then I would trust the whole matching and painting to a bodyshop. If it doesn't match then you have some comeback.
By the way are you sure you want the hardtop the same colour as the body? A contrasting colour may look better, for example white, silver or black on a red car.

Just a thought. It seems most Cobra hardtops are body coloured.
Just to add I have used Paints4u before, good service and good enough match by code for my car (I wasn't too worried if it was out).
Editted to add....Nice car by the way
