I had a flick through the new copy of Evo earlier this evening..and there's a few photos inside of an Aston(I think) and a Porsche 997 Turbo S...with all 4 wheels off the ground!

Do the manufacturers just expect their cars to be fked after they get them back from the press, and don't mind due to the "free" publicity? It wasn't just one accidental flight, there were a few.

It did remind me of a time many years ago, when a mate's parents had gone out, and he took his mum's brand new car out(it had 30 miles on the clock), clocking up 50 miles that night. And that was just driving around the neighborhood, and "jumping" the car on one particular stretch.

I say "jumping", as I can't guarantee that all 4 wheels got airbourne.. Not big, and not clever.

Never done it but in Thamesmead (think Clockwork Orange) there's a flyover with an awkward ramp angle. I always though I could get some air time if I hammered it enough but sadly had a Rover 214i at the time.

I once got a Passat estate fully airborn, but it wasn't quite on purpose. I merely underestimated the severity of a hump back bridge!

Been close several times, possibly even all four wheels off but it's hard to tell when you inside the car holding on for dear life.

Oddly my mother managed it once, cracked the sump wide open on the family 156 estate....hehe

Yup, launched my Ford Orion over a hump back bridge. Bloody stupid thing to do, was 18 at the time, haven't done it since.

Yes there is a hump back bridge in Ribchester leading onto some lovely roads and when I was 18 we all used to jump our cars over it.
Wouldnt dream of doing it now.

I'm pretty sure that a taxi me and some friends got back from a night out took off at one point.

It went over this particularly bad hump back bridge and I flew up in the air and smashed my head on the ceiling and my mate sat on the flaw was launched in the air as well.

Volvo 240, humback bridge on Hardwater crossing near Northampton. I was 17 and stupid, didn't realise my speed and the angle of the bridge. More stupid though was my rear seat passenger who unbenownst to me had taken off his seatbelt as he considered it girly, and paid for this by bouncing off the roof.

I got my father's Granada 3.0S airbourne over a hump-backed bridge at Sutton-on-Derwent, driving back from Pennine drags back in the late 70's.
Also had my 2.8 Capri off the deck over a railway crossing between John's Cross and Battle in E. Sussex.
They both landed with a mini-explosion and not without some damage.
I was also unfortunate and stupid enough to be a passeneger in an early 80's Cavalier, driven by a pissed idiot who failed to take a bend, went 'through' a parked Reliant 3 wheeler and flew through/over a hedge, rolled down an embankment and landed upside-down in some poor old fella's greenhouse. Made the front page of the Hastings Observer.

Was driving the S down some country lanes (new to me so I thought I'd have an explore, as you do when the weather is nice and you take the lid off) at the NSL when suddenly a small ridge appeared in the road and I was airborne, but only for a second... Landed, and it shattered the rear suspension. Had to get that re-built.

Was driving along ( enthusiastically ) down a country lane which had a couple of bumps, one of which made the revs flick round to the limiter, so yes in essence wink

That picture looks quite comical, shouldn't laugh but looks like what happens in a computer game when you don't brake for the first corner! hehe

My first car, an XR2 build up, did actually fly through a hedge upon finding a T junction over a hill battering down some country lanes at night..
Split all the inner wings then popped it`s driveshafts in the ankle deep mud.
Found myself negotiating with a farmer through his letterbox at 3am for the services of his tractor.

Had the mini off the ground about 20 years ago, and also took to the air once in a Citroen XM. Nice smooth landing.

Hump back bridge

Mate shouts "Bridge"!!

Way too fast to do anything, had forgotten it was there.

Felt like we were airborne for ages.

Broken things underneath, fixed by peugeot warranty!

Current car, upper reaches of 4th gear on a back roadprivate test track and a crest that didn't seem quite so bad on approach. That was interesting.

Recall a few experiences on road rallies-one particular time had enough time to look across at the co-driver who was looking back at me with a look of shock/amusement then look back in front in time for the (thankfully uneventful)landing...
