Why no white Accord Type R's?
Discussion
Just browsing the classifieds and looking at 4 pages worth of Accord Type R's and none (bar a lone JDM Euro model which isn't the same thing) seem to be white?
I thought many Type R's would be white, I seem to recall Mr Damon Hill driving a white one back in the day, so what's the score?

Ta. Shame, they just look so much better in white.Dear 300bhp/ton,
I bought an early one new (V reg.) and IIRC I was offered red (my choice at the time as the later silver was not yet available), black or white. I would say the reason why they're rare is because white was not a cool colour at the time.
Having one for ten years and the car being relatively unsusual sensitises ones brain to them.
I could have sworn I had seen a very few in white. I must have been mistaken,

Jet

i heard the reason they didnt offer white was that Championship white paint reacts badly with our climate and goes off colour and they had many customers complained about their ITR paint.
Well.. thats the speil me and mate were given from Honda when trying to pre-order (before they were released) a current style CTR.

Cheers. The link to the other thread seems to suggest there weren't any UK white ATR's, and having a look at ones for sale it would seem to be this way.I bought an early one new (V reg.) and IIRC I was offered red (my choice at the time as the later silver was not yet available), black or white. Maybe they never actually sold them in that colour here, despite offering it??
Thanks

a guy on atr.org has one. he's belgian (or possibly dutch!). they sold them LHD on continent. i've seen it at ChavFest at castle combe (cousin member of atr.org). and it does look cool now. hence why you're asking!
it was just marketing.
imagine how much UK demand there'd have been for a big white saloon car in 1999...!
if you want rhd white you could get a jdm euro R (uglier but somehow very cool).

edited to say between starting this and posting it i had to have a conversation about ipods so most of what i have said has been covered..!

Quite possibly. I could have seen an import or a European visitor. Or somebody might have made a look-a-like from a lesser model,Maybe they never actually sold them in that colour here, despite offering it??
