Hi Pistonheads - I am working on a project for my father, creating a photo album of all of the cars and motorcycles he's owned over the years. Only problem is I am having trouble identifying some of them! The main piece missing for most of these is year - I know when the picture was taken which can give us a starting point. (and if I've ID'ed any of them wrong - please let me know!)

Should be a fun challenge - do I have any takers?
:: Update :: I've updated the post with the last 24hrs worth of thoughts - we've made huge progress!

This thread should be a lesson to all young men - drive your dreams now because life catches up!!!

If you do then someday you too might be punting a boring green Mazda saloon, but you'll be telling your son stories of when you were young, and cool, and used to chase girls around France in your blue Fiat Spider or around California in your Corvette.

That picture on the motorbicycle thing is class. Thumbs up to your old man!

I don't really understand the question.

The Peugeot is a 404.

Did I win something?

Just for clarity - are you trying to identify the model year of the car rather confirm the year the photo was taken?

Nice moped!
1977 Renault 4 (gearchange in dash) in the background though.

I'd say as it's the USA the BMW would be a 1602, plus it certainly not a 2002Tii and I'm pretty sure it's not a 2002 do to trim levels. 1977 possibly.

Anyway, your dads obviously not interested in cars as he'd of known the exact year and model of every car he's owned!

Nope, that is a Renault 6 (but the gearchange is still in the dash)
And how can you tell it's a 77? They made the 4 for three decades!

The cool cars were bought when he was single, the dull sensible heaps were what he was told what to buy when in 'relationships'. wink

Yes exactly, trying to identify the model year. I thought it would be helpful to post when the picture was taken as a stick in the ground

I bet he would know every single one - the album is a surprise present

Very good! some of the cars on here are cars owned by other members of the family. For example, the awesomely described...

Hi Pistonheads, I'm the other collaborator in this project. Be assured the MAN knows EVERYTHING about each one of these vehicles - it's just me and ricekrisha who have very little idea!

Peugeot 404 - thanks for that. Any idea on the year?

The old BMW is definitely a tii, just need the year.

And to defend - some of these cars were bought for the kids... or belonged to Grandma and Grandpa...

Now for some other oldies I need help with:

Picture 16:

Buick taken in the 70s I think - need year and model
:: Update :: Thanks to LuS1fer: Buick Skylark Sport Coupe circa 1967

Picture 17:

Buick taken in 1979 - need year and model
:: Update :: Thanks to LuS1fer: Buick LeSabre - 1966 judging by the wheeltrims

Picture 18:

That Mercury in the front - taken around 1975 or so - need year and model
:: Update :: Thanks to LuS1fer: Mercury Marauder 1965

Picture 19:

Chrysler Cordoba - need year
:: Update :: Thanks to LuS1fer: 1977

Picture 20:

Ford Fairmont - maybe a 1979?
:: Update :: Thanks to LuS1fer: Futura Coupe 1978

Picture 21:

Cadillac - need year and model
:: Update :: Thanks to LuS1fer: Sedan DeVille 1993

Picture 22:

Cadillac - need year and model
:: Update :: Thanks to LuS1fer: Coupe DeVille 1981

Picture 23:

Cadillac - need year and model
:: Update :: Thanks to LuS1fer: Eldorado Biarritz Coupe 1981

Thanks for any help!
:: Update :: Wow LuS1fer - thanks so much!

The Fox body Mustang, shown, was not launched until 1979.

I'd say the Vette was a 73 or 74 by the absence of over-riders either side of the plate. The two could only be distinguished from the rear by the type of bumper but I think '74.

The Chrysler Cordoba is a '75 - round headlamps and script on the flank - would that tie in?

I'll happily have a punt at the others - but will stand corrected if someone more knowledgable comes along! smile

The Fiat Spyder is a 1965 going from the sloped headlamps, certainly pre 1970.
