(mods - please sticky this if you feel this is worthy)

There are times in anyone's life where you ask yourself, "What did I just agree to?", and entering into Lawnmower racing is one of those.

Who are Braun GP (Gardening Professionals)?
Malcolm "David Tryhard" Marshall
Phil "James Shunt" Curwen
Alan "Emerson Fit-O-Laughter" Penney
Neal "Rubens Ban-The-Smell-O" Humphries
Jon "Lewis Ham-it-up" Christopher
Chris "Hair-Gone Senna" Page
and finally Chris "Jenson Glutton" Bridgland

Odd behaviour?
The British Lawnmower Racing Association ( http://www.blmra.co.uk/) is where we are registered, and they have seen the likes of Sterling Moss, Oliver Reed and Derek Bell compete in these races over the years(Google these people if you don’t know who they are), as well as many formula one teams.

It's a piece of cake..
Anyone who has done gokarting for any duration will understand that this can be very physical. Now couple that with speeds of up to 50 mph, over a bumpy field, with no suspension with 3 hours, 6 hours and 12 hours "the BIG ONE" being the endurance race duration and the team will be reaching near "Hero" status. (Have a look at the video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYu-jYFtFUI).

Braun GP? Haven't I heard of that somewhere before?
You may well have heard of the Brawn GP formula 1 team that won the championship last year, however, although we are using the similar colour scheme as a homage to that famous team, we are in not associated to them in any way. We are Braun GP (Gardening Professionals) and proud of it!

Why do it for Charity?
We firstly needed a reason to make the decision jusifiable to our partners, but also if we are going to go through pain and suffering in the name of "fun", we should make it worth while and raise money for causes that are near and dear to our hearts. Help for Heroes, Teenage Cancer Trust and Childline are the ones that make so much sense to all of us.

What are you being sponsored to do?
We are entering the 2010 endurance series of the BLMRA (British Lawn Mower Racing Association) which we are asking you to sponsor us for. We will be competing in the following races (Follow this link for details and locations): -
- 26th June - The double 3 hour race in Rudgwick, West Sussex
- 31st July to 1st August - The 12 Hour race in Northchapel (north of Petworth), West Sussex
- 9th and 10th October - The 6 hour, venue to be confirmed

So some along to cheer us on!! We will also have a Barbecue there at each event (weather depending), so bring your own food to cook up and have some fun in the sun!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now! Below are the links for you to choose a charity to sponsor us for: -

So nobody feeling charitable?

I know none of you know me from Adam, but this goes straight to the charities and not through me. If you want to come down this weekend, I will have a barbecue going so bring a steak and make yourself at home. Racing starts at 1pm and the second race starts at 5pm - both 3 hours.
