A scaffolding lorry was parked outside my house, and they were offloading a lot of poles. The scaffolders had to pull the poles off the back of the lorry, towards my car. They never complained or asked me to move my car, which was 15-20ft away from their lorry.

They buggered off for the day, and I went out to my car ... there is a massive fking scratch/dent on the front, and the damage looks like it was caused by a scaffolding pole. Basically, the fking cretins are denying it, and there were no witnesses to the event. The damage is consistent with a long metal rod hitting the bodywork! I know this is extreme, but are there any experts who can prove that a scaffolding pole hit the bodywork?

I can't believe that everyone involved is denying it ....

Without firm proof(ie witnesses)you have an uphill struggle with this one I'm afraid.i'd check if the area is covered by CCTV-you never know.

I think I'll have another look at the poles .... but I'm not too optimistic. Some of the poles are over 30ft in the air!

Not gonna happen mate, I work in insurance and anything like this you need a full admission of liability or CCTV to get anywhere any "mates" wouldn't count as independent witnesses anyway, it would be their public liability insurance you'd have to claim against anyway and of they don't respond to or deny any knowledge of the claim it won't go anywhere. Just one of those things.

Also check the car for paint transfer too. Most scaffolding companies colour code their tubes with a band of paint.

similar happened to me in my car park, even though a black astra was covered in my silver paint and a cracked bumper he denied it and no cctv meant that I could do sweet fa about it! Also had a quick word with legal department about it and said even though it looks like it and I have photos you will never prove it!

Sorry

This. Then when they're on the ground beat a confession out of them. Finishing with something like "See? it's much easier when you just tell the truth."
