Just got back from a few days away and the missus has been using the Eunos to go to work instead of my V6. Well, cats have been pawing over the bonnet to keep warm at night so I'm out for vengeance!

Any recommendations for either putting something on the bonet to keep them off, I'm thinking spikes on some sort of soft cover, or something to take them away from the actual car.

Help!

EDIT got a plan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijYAQTwJ9kQ

Get some off the stuff they don't like the smell of. Or there are ultrasonic scarers. Cat turns up, triggers the sensor and high pitched noise (above human hearing) scares them away.

Or buy a dog.

Cat pepper - liberally sprinkled over the bonnet.

If that doesn't work you might have to try the ultra-sonic alarm things or more creative techniques.

I've bought two of these contraptions (daft cow next door has 6 pissing cats which st in my gardens)

I can happily say they do jack st. Buy a super soaker and just camp in an upstairs window, it's much more fun!!

If you use a citrus based shampoo for washing the car - I know orange based stuff is available in the detailing world - that'll keep them at bay.

Now that, I like. Wonder how the HD wax application over the top will affect it though.

yes The ultrasonic device I had failed to stop a previous neighbour's fat fking ginger tom sitting on (and scratching) the roof of my car. Super soakers or a well aimed hose are definitely the way to go.

It causes them to slide, so they dig their claws in more.

Not good.

Well there is that also. I'm just not that prissy about mine. But it's not for me to say what condition the OP or others want to keep their paintwork. And if they want to keep other peoples cats off their car that seems reasonable to me.

My mum has had great success with ultrasonic things keeping cats out of the back garden...but I guess there's a difference between makes and I've no idea what she's using. And she's also involved a lot of "anti-cat" fencing which is not so easy around a car.

Been done many times on PH over the years.

Usually this type of thread ends up being closed as some kind chap suggests all sorts of animal cruelty.

Do a quick search for similar topics (google should do it, even for PH) and have a read through, but I'll close this one as it will undoubtedly head the same way.
