My new alloys for my MX5 got delivered last week.

I want to put a few coats of wheel wax on them before fitting, but i'm struggling for time with family duties and getting ready for impending holiday.

Mrs 71 wants us to chill out and watch a film tonight.

So we have come to a compromise...

I'll watch the film with her, but i will be sitting cross legged on the floor at the time applying copious amounts of wheel wax to the alloys in the lounge biggrin

So, how do you know when your car(s) mean so much to you?

Any little tell tale signs?

Is this not normal then?paperbag
The most important thing in a petrolheads' life are the family that support them...

Something tells me that is not what Mrs. 71 meant and that you may pay for that later! nono

For me it was when I was cleaning the car ready for a show and I did my back in but then continued to clean (on hands and knees for most of the time) for another three days headache

Have now been laid up for the whole of this week (but the car looked great at the show!)

Have you not taught her how to wax yet?

Try rebuilding split rims on the dinning room table, it does not go down to well I assure you. smile

Perfectly normal though.

Normal behaviour would be sat next to eachother whilst both waxing.
From day one my wife knew the score, I had my motocross bike in her living room the night before a race doing last minute adjustments.

Carmats soaking in the bath, parts wash with Gunk etc in the kitchen sink.
Dining room out of bounds from spares, and garden features that look suspiciously like engines.

It's not too different from scatter cushions, ornaments, and picture frames everywhere of non car objects.

Washing oily car bits in the dish washer, or baking high temp paint onto rocker covers and the like in the oven hehe

Nah, what you should be doing is
1) have the wheels mounted on a wall opposite the tv
2) give the the neccessary cleaning equipment
3) Tell her that the only way she gets to watch the film is when she gets the wheels shiny enough to watch it through the reflection
4) Grab a beer.

I knew an old guy who had taken the engine out of his car in the Fifties and put it on the kitchen table where it stayed until he died in the Nineties. After he died his wife was quite insistent that it should be moved. That and the engineless car that was still in the garage.

My grandfather did something similar. His engine was replaced rather quickly though.

When my mum went away for a week leaving me and my dad alone she came back to an extra two cars on the drive and a rover v8 in the kitchen. In our defense the engine was on a stand and we put newspaper down. Plus its cold in the garage.

I see no issue at all.
I spent a considerable amount of time with 4 car seats taking up much of the lounge. The rest was taken up with cam covers which I was painting. I usually run various engine parts through the dishwasher.

Mind you, this may explain my single status...
