Mate of mine came into work this morning, not in the best of moods I think it would be fair to say, all because when he came out of his house this morning he found this...

Now what sort of fkin lowlife dcensoredless fk does this to someones car for no reason - makes my p1ss boil that people think this is either funny or they're jealous as someone has a better car than them - fkin s! rage

Anyway, please excuse my language but this really makes me mad. The scratch runs metal deep from the middle of his bonnet across the passenger wing, door, rear quater and boot. Unbelievable. furious

I guess he's looking at a full respray of the panels but I just wanted to check if any Pistonheaders have had this sort of damage and what it cost to fix? Mate is debating whether to go through his insurance but is looking to see what it would cost to get it done privately. Is this too big a job for a chips away type firm? I would have thought so..

Cheers
Paul

Option 1 - a random, dickless, mouth-breathing product waste of skin.

Option 2 - your mate has upset someone.

yes

If it was a random keying, I guess it would be a cowardly "walk down the side with key out" type of job. This looks like they spent a bit of time on it.

If no other cars down the street are damaged in the same way, I would say he has annoyed someone.

(Note for the PH Professionally offended - this is my opinion and I do not condone the damage in any way)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah he's having a think about whether he's upset one of his neighbours but nothing is springing to mind. All he can think of is that he lives in a new housing estate and has to leave the Audi parked on the road - parked perfectly safely and legally - but maybe someone has taken exception to it.

I forgot to say but I'm in the Peterborough area if anyone can recommend a repair shop or good local firm, although it's looking like an insurance job at this rate frown

Even if it looks horrible, I'd attack it with a touch-up pen, to stop the metal corroding before he gets chance to repair it.

I know exactly how it feels to have that damage on your pride and joy!! A lot of care (if thats the right phrase to use) has been taken to make sure every panel is damaged. I suspect its a revenge attack and maybe the wrong person targeted? OP - I would ask your mate to report it to bib, just in case others in your area were also targeted. However, dont expect the bib to be all that bothered, as they werent when i suffered similiar damage 3 times. I would also advise that such a nice car isnt parked on the street, as once the damage has been repaired, it may be targeted again. CCTV may also be required to protect from future damage.

You might well be right. Where he lives is a typical new housing estate with only room to park one car off the road so the Audi parks outside his front door in a proper parking spot.

He has reported it to the BIB as well - for what thats worth.

It could be a lentilist attack although his missus has a range rover sport (albeit a diesel) so you would have thought they would go for that first. The Audi is a nice car but its about 8 years old.. although its a convertible I suppose frown

Who knows. Probably some bored pissed up little tt with nothing better to do than ruin someones day.

I had someone dent my old Audi 100, was sparked on a trading estate, visiting a mate whilst he finsihed work, place was locked up I parked in front of, no signs of life so thought it was ok, place was deserted apart from my cars and his, someone came out and put there knee into the front wing because I had parked in front of their building, it did have a sign which I noticed on my return (not visible on the way out) but nowhere did it say they would actually damage my car.

I don't think I acn introduce a profanity to the thread that hasn't been used already.

Work on £150 per panel to have it painted properly.

Ask him does he park on the road or up on the pavement?

Does he park outside his own house or someone else's?

Does he park opposite anyone else's drive, or obscuring aview from someone else's drive.

Does he park close to anyone's window's or 'view', even if the view is only the other side of the street?

You can bet this is merely a neighbourly "dispute" that he may not even know about. But people get very "protective" about "their space" on housing estates, particularly if they live in some fairly big house with a decent frontage, then get everyone else's cars sat outside because they are too big to park where the owner lives! And if they perceive that your mate only parks there so he doesn't have to shuffle the cars about to let his missus out, and that he does have space to park near his gaff, then that is when trouble begins.
I'm not excusing it, but it does happen.

I would not even dream of Chipsaway for that tbh. It's an insurance job. BUt contact the rozzers in case it happens again when it is all fixed. Hopefully a quiet word with a few neighbours from a PCSO or the like will discourage them for doiung it again.....

'Yes' and 'don't know' as the car was for sale at the time; sold with the damage for, obviously, significantly £less than due.

As with most rape crimes the perpetrator is known to the victim. At first I was upset but then began to feel sorry for the person responsible (whoever that may be...). Imagine being in such a place where your only course of action against someone is to interfere with their property anonymously and run away to avoid detection - pitiful. Ironically the perpetrator probably considers himself the 'Big Man' having 'taught your mate a lesson'.
