Discuss,

I think for some its a bit of fun, novelty value but for a lot its one upmanship, thinking it makes them special in some way, sometimes this is borne out by the type of driving, witness the number of Range Rovers etc parked badly sporting personalised registrations round our way.

Do we notice bad driving more because the plate is more distinctive or is it because the drivers are just more agressive and less considerate, is it partly a jealousy thing, I dont think it is for me, we have one I could put on my car but it doesnt interest me one iota, if I was desperately trying to display wealth I could do but I am not (and dont have any anyway biggrin).

What is the motivation for the fonts and wacky spacings, are people that desperate to be individual, if so, surely a distinctive car is more individual than a Clio with an cheesy plate which just looks rubbish, worse than a Clio with a standard plate but fitted with a 4 foot lifelike penis on the roof.

I find that about

1 percent make me smile

9 percent look ok, kind of suit, set the car off

80 percent, meh.....

10 percent, WTF ARE YOU THINKING !

Is that just me, or do other people think the same, is anyone really impressed apart from the really cool, appropriate or funny one percent and do cars with private plates get driven any differently ?

At least we haven't discussed this one to death on this forum. Because that would be awful.

i purchased a personalised plate, the psychology behind it was that i like to personalise a lot of my purchases, and this is one way in which i wanted to personalise my car.

it in no way displays my wealth. i dont expect people to understand it, and its not there to please the masses, it pleases me and i think thats all that really matters?

At last, a new topic to discuss on PH!

Seriously, have a look over the last few years for many lengthy threads on the same subject.
