Don't know if you're aware of the site, but www.blackcircles.com gets you very competitive prices on whatever you choose.
I had always rubbered up my car with premium brands until last time when I needed 4 at the same time having just lost my job, so I went for Nexen N3000's. The only difference I can tell with these tyres over the Bridgestones and Dunlops that I had used previously is that they are quieter than both and they have lasted much better than the Dunlops.
TBH I can't see myself going back to premium brands after this experience. Can't remember exactly what I paid, but it was stupid cheap.

Always found these to be good prices and they get fitted at your local National Tyres place.

Another vote for the Goodyears, or if you can find someone that sells them (local indy most likely)go for Vredestein, model of them will depend on your budget but all the sporty one's are great.

In the past my daily drivers have always been treated to 'the cheapest ones I've heard of' which tend to be Dunlop or Firestone in that size. I wouldn't touch Wanli, Sunny, Event or any other far eastern rubbish with someone else's 10 foot bargepole but Nexen, Kumho, Hankook, Viking or Nokian are all OK too.
There's very little point in blowing £100 a corner on Eagle F1s if they're going on a diesel family car really.
In fact, the tyres on my MX-5 are too good for it. I'm running Kumho KU31 in 195/50 15 and they just have too much grip so I'm debating going back to narrower 14s with harder tyres like the basic Kumhos or something, but unfortunately they cost morethan the sticky 15s!

205/55 16 has plenty of options and out of the bunch I'd be very tempted by the Hankook S1 Evo as they've been winning a lot of group tests.
Not end of the world expensive either.

They must be better than Nexen N6000's then. Our stupid garage fitted some to our company Chrysler Voyager without asking and they were like greased teflon in the wet - terrifying. Had to swap them for some Dunlops and the difference was like night and day.I had always rubbered up my car with premium brands until last time when I needed 4 at the same time having just lost my job, so I went for Nexen N3000's.
