What an evening!! - Filled the engine with water!
Discussion
I must add...It wasn't me stupid enough to drive too fast at a ford and overtake wave of water in front of the car leading to the air box and engine filling with water!
My rather embarrassed friend has a 1.4 Vauxhall Corsa. Tonight he decided to go for a hoon and he managed to hit a ford a little too fast. The intake filled with water and in turn filled the cylinders! Obviously the engine died immediately and we were a bit f
ked.
In all honesty my mechanical know how is pretty poor but luckily for me i had seen the fifth gear recently where they flooded a car engine with water and found out you are supposed to take the spark plugs out and turn the engine over to force the water out.
Cue a phone call to my brother for a socket set to be brought over to us (without letting my parents know as I didn't want them to know we were hooning).
So I took the plugs out and we managed to flush a s
t load of water from the engine but the battery died just as we got most of the water out of the engine. This meant we needed a jump starter, only problem was the family had gone to bed so I had to walk 3 miles back to the house to get the jump starter and then 3 miles back.
We finally got the car going again with plumes of smoke/steam out of the exhaust and it is now sat on the drive feeling sorry for itself!
Just thought I would share my first mechanically type encounter with everyone.
Sorry if no one cares
Im just happy we didn't have to call the AA

Customers think we're a bit odd at work when they bring in submerged outboard (boat) engines. We throw them straight in the outboard engine test tank and let it sink to the bottom until we get around to stripping it. They start to rust much quicker when they're removed from the water and it rinses the salt off.

k the pistons and conrods upFriend of mine did this in an immaculate low milage E36 M3 EVO.
He called me to come see and after i done 3 oil changes on the side of the road it was still sounding bad. Once recovered and checked out the next day it was even worse, it ran for a few moments but then punched a hole in the block.
New engine.

I did that in my kit car just after the snows melted this year - didn't realise how deep the puddle was, and how low I'd moved my air intake to get some cool air.
Got towed back home (only about 1/2 mile), and did the spark plug thing (although more out of instinct).
Engine seems to be still running fine.
