Over the last few months, I've acquired 2 cars and a motorcycle. The total cost of them is roughly what a lot of (non-PH) people would spend on the one car they have in their household - £5000.

Obviously, for this money I've had to compromise and in the case of the bike and sportscar, I've chosen vehicles that aren't the most popular in their class and have depreciated accordingly. But, that means that I can have a daily driver, sportscar and sports(ish) bike, and I'm happy with each vehicle.

The vehicles:

1996 MGF VVC
2002 Honda VTR1000 FireStorm
2001 Ford Focus 2.0 Ghia Estate

Anyone else assembled a PH fleet for the price of 5 year old boggo Focus?

Yeah, a couple of years back.

1996 Volvo 850 T5
1995 Mazda MX-5
1990 Honda VFR400 NC30

Less than 5K for the lot.

I'm giving my wallet a break at the moment with a D4D Yaris, as exciting as wall paper paste but liberating not to need parts, tyres or fuel every other day! I'm very undecided what to go for next for fun. Think I need a V8 in my life though, to justify my username.

Currently have mk1 MR2 and
a Subaru Legacy GT-B, purchase price for both is less than 3 grand! I don't reckon I could get a better combination of cars for less.

You can get some bloody good cars for around the 1k mark

I've had:

Volvo 480 Turbo
Mk2 MR2
Audi A8 4.2 V8 Quattro

Total purchase price £3100
My wifes parents spent more than that on a daewoo kalos.......And that cost more in maintenance and depreciation than the Audi.

thumbup

Similar here, Legacy GTB and Mk1 MX5 turbo. In some ways GTB + standard MX5 was a better combination though, and kept the budget down better.

You are wrong - that is very PH! Love all 3!

Me, I have a Mk2 XR2 and a Saab 9000 2.3 Turbo.

The saab is a bit vanilla so am thinking of chopping it out for something more fun. Budget can't stretch much at the moment, so maybe an MX5 or an old Capri. In a few years, I will get myself a TVR, circa £5k if possible.

At one point I think I had about 10 cars, all of which added up to about £5k!

After a succession of reasonably expensive cars (to me!), I've had to grow up and buy a house. I therefore had ~£2k to spend on a car and fancied an old BMW, preferably with a V8, or a mk1 MX-5, but this plan went out of the window as soon as I saw the mint Alfa Romeo 156 V6 I now own up for a price I could afford. Not as fun as the other two choices, but it's got one of the best engines ever and in Lusso spec is quite barge-tastic on long journeys. Only thing I don't like are the fuel bills... 20mpg is not a good return for producing just 192bhp!
