Podering which of the above from yesteryear, lets say at least 20 odd years old, still looks good today and in the eyes of non PH'ers would be seen as expensive cars to own...

I'm thinking 8 series BMW (non barried) 928 Porsche (S4 onwards) maybe a very nice late SEC 126?

Any other thoughts?

Always been a fan of these, probably the only Merc I would ever consider owning, but probably never will, got an 8er on the drive what more do you need

Jag X300/X308 series. Thats my X300 4.0 Sovereign (in desperate need of a clean). Marvellous thing and, when all shiny, looks magnificent despite the basic design being decades old.

He also said timeless & looks like a non PH'er would think it was worth something.
Beat me to it. Now before the abuse comes my way i personally love E34 M5's, definitely on "the list". However to most people they probably just appear to be "old BMW's", unless you're in the know they don't have that "look".

I'm a huge fan of the E34, a lot of manufacturers copied certain aspects of it so for that, it's timeless...and no one can deny their bargeness credentials but, they don't really look expensive do they?

Mum's neighbour saw me dropping her home in my E34 540 today and remarked how posh it looked. She was amazed when I said it was 17 years old. She and her husband loved it!

They dont look as expensive as some of the stuff in this thread but they definatley look like they are worth more then they cost and people are shocked when you tell them how much you paid for it.

I'd stick the 560 sec in that lot. Still has huge presence in the rear view mirror and the curves are still spot on. Just seems to be be so solid - the last of the truly long lasting cars?

. umm love the bentley. How much do you have to 'budget' for annually to drive one of those. Or is it in the 'if you have to ask you can't afford it' group?
