In the interests of getting my 928 sold i have decided to bang a minty fresh MOT on the old girl. Now the only thing that i know needs doing, and to be honest the only thing i can think of full stop! is the renewal of the front rubber (225/45 17)

I've had a quick look at the usual sites and have seen some Kumhos (sp) for £59.95 delivered. I'm going to ring my local tyre places on monday but i just thought i'd ask the font that is PH for any suggestions first!

As i'm selling the car i don't fancy spending a huge amount BUT i will not be putting ditchfinders on either! From experience Kumhos have been a good bet.

Get some part worns on. Its what i usually do, and you can get some very good brands, with about 5-6mm of tread left, for the price of a new ditchfinder.

Just call around a few tyre places, some usually advertise part worns, and theyre not dodgey, they just buy them in from places like germany where they have a higher tread legal limit.

I thought this but hers the rub...i've got a chap who has seen the car and is keen BUT would like a fresh ticket (it's got just over 2 months left) I thought it might give him cold feet if i bunged part worns on to get it through the MOT....i.e. where else has he scrimpeed...

But, the flipside is..if he doesnt buy it then nobody else (potential buyers) will ever know i've gone down the part worn route, unless they ar on PH! wink

In all honesty, id rather have a set of part worn decent tyres with 5000miles left on them, then a new set of ditchfinders, which will be even more leathal in the wet then normal because they need wearing in.

Im sure the buyer would appreciate the honesty. I would.

Kumhos are decent tyres, which ones were you looking at. Certainly not ditchfinders!

I'm running Toyo T1Rs ATM, very happy with them, although I've heard good things about the Kumhos.

I know Kumhos are a decent mid range option, i certainly wouldn't put any spurious comedy named jobbies on it!

Might look at part worns, i can see the logic.

If he aint left a deposit then he might not buy the car. 1 or 4 new tyres for a potential sale? I would go for part worns every time.

Always get a fresh ticket on just bedcause most people trust a car with a new MOT on it.

I got a new mot on my TVR chimeara and it had 8 months left.

why not talk to your buyer?

Or put it through the mot and if it only fails on tyres then offer him the choice? I know I would rather get to have a say in what tyres were on a car I was buying.
