Do you have, a bit like "Shed of the week" a "Car of the week", a car that you decide you fancy, research to death, daydream about, keep noticing on the road and then without warning forget about and move onto something else ?

I am currently having hankerings for an E60 5 Series as a neighbour friend of ours has just got a 520d in black and I keep sneaking a nosy at it, they are properly good looking cars, at least they have really gorwn on me.

I suspect it will pass, if I acted on all my whims i would end up changing my car every 8 weeks and waste thousands, I jump between sensible and daft, being parsimonous and extravagant but luckily my wife and financial realities are there to curb my enthusiasm.....

Weird thing is, I dont really do any milage, so largely any car I buy would be sat on the drive most of the time, I might ask a local BMW dealership to store a nice 5 series there so I can look out of the window every hour or two. I suspect like most purchases that the yearning, excitement, research and initial novelty are the best bit.

So do you do this or am I just a bit strange, what is your current "car crush"

Yup, all the time, my problem is I usually buy them, lately I wanted another MK3 Golf, so I bought a GTi 8 valve, then I got wind of a VR6 so I bought that, and now I have bought a 16v GTi, so I have three flavours of Golf and I now need to get shot of two.

May be replacing our 1 series soon as the OH will be off work for a while and I have a terrible hankering for a Mondeo ST TDCi Estate bizarrely

I want another Golf VR6.
I'd like a Clio Williams; probably the Mark II.
I'd like to get a Merc SLK around a £4k price tag
A Merc C32 AMG fro around £7k, too.
A like the look of the Peugeot 307CC. I must be mad!

All sorts of cars I would love to just try. Used to just go for it and ended up having owned nearly 30 cars in the first 3 years of driving.

At the moment I lust for a Mazda MX-6 2.5 v6, MX-5, Mazda Xedos 9 (with the miller engine), MK1 Golf Cabriolet, Peugeot 306 gti-6, Fiat Bravo HGT (had one before but love the 2.0 20v engine), Fiat Coupe, Toyota MR2 (had one before for a while), Honda Prelude (had one before), Honda CRX (had one before), Mitsubishi Galant v6-24... and there's loads more...

I'll stick with the e36 compact for the time being though.

Yep I go through a lot of these, mostly old cheap to buy barges like old 5 and 7 series that look easily affordable. If it wasn't for the additional running costs and insurance I'd certainly buy one like this .

One positive is that my car knowledge has expanded dramatically because of this :P

Mk2 golf.

See them occasionally, saw a nice one in newquay the other day and said to the Mrs I'm going to buy one when we get home. Haven't a clue how much they are but she quiet rightly pointed out the lack of space on the drive.

One day maybe when I sell the 335 as an in-between car.
