Looking for a very economical run around to offset the rather thirsty P&J. Planning to do a straight lease - no PCP thanks - just the cheapest lease possible for either 24 or 36 months, on either a Mini Cooper diesel or new shape Polo 1.6 diesel.

Would consider also ex-dem if this meant I could get into a slightly more interesting vehicle for similar money (but must still do 50/60mpg+).

Where can I find the cheapest deals and can anyone vouch for a particular provider who has been good? Can be done either privately or through my company if necessary.

If you can stomach a 1.0 Corsa, Vauxhall are banging them out on 3+36s at the moment for £120 a month, with 3 years tax, warranty and breakdown cover. Cheap motoring and 50MPG, if you can put up with the snails pace!

You have fallen for a common misconception with this. Advertised leasing prices are calculated using the purchase price (discounted) of the car as a starting point. An ex-demonstrator, and particularly something like a MINI, will typically have a lot of options fitted often pushing it's cost above that of a new base-model car. That's before the depreciation calculation starts.

I have found that lease prices direct from dealers are more expensive like-for-like anyway. But in one or two cases an ex-dem car (with limited spec I grant you), has been cheaper than the equivalent brand-new car (before any options are added).

Normally £199 + VAT per month but I'm sure a PH discount could be worked out. Absolutely not being liable for maintenance on the damn thing though.
