I just wanted to thank the unknown AA Patrolman who helped me.

I had been at the Glastonbury Festival, enjoying it fully. It came to sunday evening and i didnt fancy watching the last acts, instead i thought i would leave early and beat the traffic.

So i pack away my tent say goodbye and head off for the carpark. After a few stops and a few last things i had to do i finally reach my car.
I thought to myself wouldnt it be a annoying if the battery was flat.

I put the key in the lock and turn, only one door opens. Great
Not to worry i took out full cover with Tesco the week before.

I get on the phone to them, get through the details and wrong information. They ask where i am.
I reply, The Glastonbury Festival.

They had no idea what it was or where it was.

I tell them Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset Carpark W36 roll 10ish.
You couldnt get more detailed than that, but no. They wanted a postcode.
I was sat in a field, i didnt know it. I start looking for anything with it on but get told i am taking too long as they have more vunrable customers to attend to who need help.

What The fk!

They cut me off without me getting a word in. I was quiet angry at this point.
I did notice a load of AA patrols going around the carparks looking for there call outs. I ran over to ask him for a postcode.
Even he knew where it was.

Anyway, i ended up giving the patrolman a box of cider and a fiver in return he got the car running.

So i am very thankful to this man, and so pissed off with tesco.

Thanks

I think I'd be demanding a full refund from Tesco and taking out an AA membership if that had happened me.

I had a similar experience camping in the lakes. Flat battery, field, middle of nowhere, never been so glad to see a AA Land Rover. I have been with them for ages and cant fault the AA, even though we have to do the yearly price dance, I wouldnt go with anyone else.

I hope he remembers to declare that income on his tax return? No doubt some "PI PH'er" will have him tracked down, facebook account hacked, naked pictures of his sister posted etc before lunch..!

I'd go further and take it to the press. Breakdown is one of those things you pay for but rarely use, but you trust them to acually deliver the service when you need it. This is a complete breach of that trust, and they should suffer for it.

Since they failed to provide the service you paid for, you had to use an alternative at additional cost to yourself. Demand a refund of your payment to them, plus the costs incurred getting the service elsewhere. Mention that you will be submitting a claim via the HMCS small claims court if they do not agree within 5 working days, and that the claim will then include your court costs.

roflBecause the OP obviously got a receipt for the fiver and a bottle of cider from the moonlighting patrolman....

He doesn't need a receipt.

My advice is sound, take it or leave it. You can issue claims through the SCC online now.

i will write them a letter and demand an explanation and see what course of action they want to take. Then i will decide weather to follow it up.

Bear in mind that the main reason we get bad service so much, is because we put up with it so often.

Really? You're suggesting he threatens someone with court proceedings with no evidence of the costs incurred?

Demand a refund by all means, but there's stuff all hope getting the fiver and cider back unless it's a goodwill payment from Tesco.

Yes, that's what i'm suggesting. It is perfectly reasonable to claim modest costs in the SCC without receipts when there is an obvious breach of a contract for services. I have done so successfully on 2 separate occasions.

Left the festival late last night... had to laugh at not 1, not 2 but 3 VW campers all being pulled onto recovery trucks on our way out.

Reminds me of the time my cars "wheel fell off" outside Elvington.

AA guy arrives looks at drag marks on the exit of the air base... looks at me.... looks at 3 wheeled car, with roll cage, race tyres and bucket seats....

I just said, funny how it just fell off right here.... he just replied "seems to happen a lot round here"..
