Ok, I've been working on my project AW11 for a few months but I have only REALLY worked in it the past few weeks and I was buying stuff it needed and tools before then. I'm really enjoying doing my car but would like to have some friends working on som too so I challanged two of my mates who are piston heads too to a challenge.

Since we're all pretty young (early 20's) budget and time are tightso I decided the rules should be as follow.

Total budget £6,000.

No more than £2,000 can be spent on the car, remaining budget needs to cover labour and parts. Car needs to be bought unmodified.

The point is to see how can make a good fun car out of something cheap, my AW11 cost £250, £130 for delivery and I have spent £58 on an alternator. so far I'm only around £450 into the budget, I'm going to try to do it for under £3,000 (unless engine transplant becomes needed)

I know this is a random pointless thread but just post what you would start with, why and how you would turn it into a weapon for as little as possible.

I picked the AW11 because I think they look amazing and I love cars from the 80's. Plan to weaponize it mostly be resoring bodt (should be simple) and then get new/better brakes, tyres and possibly may give an engine/transmission transplant.

simple and the body work is coming along fine. I expect my car will be by far the slowest in the challenge but hopefully be MUCH cheaper and have bags of character.

BWM E30 325i. Got a reasonable amount of poke and handle pretty good out of the box. Parts are cheap and can be easily upgraded.

£2,000 would by you a good one leaving lots of cash over for modifications

325 is the obvious and sensible answer.

For all out power I'd be looking at a Jap turbo though. A Supra or a 200sx that you can wind up the boost, go completely barmy and then watch it blow up.
