Jaguar had a great display on in Spinningfields in Manchester in early May - I spent a bit of time poking round the new XJ and the guy on site was very helpful. Said I was looking to change (from an S Class)fairly soon. I left them a business card. Great, he says they'll send out some literature

Yesterday I finally received a lovely brochure and price list FOR THE OLD SHAPE XJ WITH 2008 PRICE LIST .

This follows a recent effort on their part when my colleague was looking to trade in a new shape XKR Conv potentially for a hardtop. Arranged an appointment at Stratstone, Bolton, turned up and the sales guy made us wait over an hour and insisted that he couldn't give a valuation there and then. He never heard anything back and is now the proud owner of a 911.

No bleeding wonder they struggle.

Jaguar dealers can be a pain in the arse.

Luckily i have two very good suppliers i deal with for my clients that always get a great service and good discounts..

Jaguar and "Marketing" automatically suggests a failure coming up to be honest.

Looks how well they did with the X-Type.

I know of one - and pointed him here, don't know how 'public' he wants to be though.

I thought that Chris Isaak 'Wicked Game' advert for the X-Type was stunning actually. I see plenty of X-types about too so they can't have done that badly at it.

Cheers,
Rob

It was intended to be the young persons jag. All they attracted was middle managers wanting to spec a niceish car for their last company motor to take with them. Their driven in the middle lane image making them seen as cars driven by s, everyone I know who is my age feels the same, and we're spot on the target market. That constitutes a failure in my book.

They're less desireable than Saabs.

Hmmm... a 3.0L V6 with 4wd doesn't seem less desirable to me than a torque-steering bcensoredd with Dame Edna glasses!

I think the dealers let a lot of car companies down- I dont really understand why manufacturers let it happen.

The staff working in the dealership are the only human connection to a car company 99% of potential customers will ever have, and yet half the time they're the most knuckle dragging, hard selling, badly informed, ignorant toss pots you'll ever meet.

I mean how many times have you spoken to someone about a car company and they've gone; "Well, after what happened at XYZ-dealer I'll never buy another XYZ again, simply on principle"

I find that Jag are the best with their marketing for me. I havent had a new Jag for over 5 years but I still get invited to their "arrive and drive" events.

Only last week I was blasting around Cheshire's roads unaccompanied in the new XJ, XKR and XFR.....and they gave me a decent free lunch to boot! smile
