Coming back from sittingbourne this afternoon i went round the slip road to the m2/a2 southbound. As i was going round i noticed a strong smell of diesel and what looked like a trail of diesel possibly from a truck.

Obviously called plod and made them aware but feel bad that i didnt stop and walk back and warn bikers etc to keep clear of the area which looked to have diesel on it.

really hoping no bikers came off on there if i was right about it being diesel.

Can't do that much about - unless you carry a bag of sand with you or something.

You did your bit.

Well question running through my mind was that it looked to be around the outside of the bend. I carry a high vis jacket and have a warning triangle in my car and was thinking i should maybe have gone back and put the triangle down where the trail started and stood between the barriers and warned people to keep an inside line to the corner.

When i called plod the woman said they had had an incident quite recently which could have been related and to be fair about 3-4miles down the m2 i did get another strong whiff of diesel so was looking at all trucks as i passed to see if i could see a missing fuel cap but didnt.
