Importing A Car From Europe

Am I correct in thinking that if I import a car from Europe that as long as it is over ten years old its (basically) no hassle as long as it can pass a UK MOT and there are no duties to be paid ?

But if its under 10 yrs old I'll need to go though SVA or whatever its called these days.
