My wife really wants one of these, so I wondered if anyone has one or knows about them.
Are they any good?
Can you fit three child seats in the back? (2 booster and one baby seat)
Would you recommend them over likely alternatives?
COme to think of it, what are the obvious alternatives?

Thanks

Might I suggest the Skoda Yeti, yes I know I sell them but the reviews place it as a better car than the Qashqai, also to me it looks a darn sight better.

That and the Mitsubishi Overlander are the only "small" 4x4s that have seven seats. The back row are terrible though, mostly built like a deck chair (metal frame and thin cloth cover, no padding), and you won't get bags in there as well if you use them.

If you don't need the seven seats, then you have the Freelander, Honda CRV, etc.

Three child seats can be done, but you would have to choose the seats very carefully so that any arms and whatnot don't interfere.

THe Skoda Yeti is far too awful, in my eyes.
Its just opinion, obviously, but to me it is one of the most aesthetically distressing cars on the road.
I would feel like I was driving aids

We don't need 7 seats but are coming from an XC90 and really like the option to use them where neccesary, so the fact that they are st doesn't matter, but the fact that they are there is a bonus.

I hate Freelanders with a passion that I will never ever be able to adequately articulate. Just seeing the word makes me seethe.

Ill have a look at that Mitsubishi

I've had a Qashqai hire car before and very nice it was too.

Well specced, engine was underwhelming (1.8 petrol), but then you know it's a large car. Handles far better than it has any right to - and the journey from Fort William to Bristol was very enjoyable.

I'd consider one if I was forced to.

But the Squashedcow is the blandest vehicle ever penned. It is the equivalent of the last Nissan Micra. Personally, I would rather stick my head in a bag of sh*t and ring a bell to warn people I'm there. Just my opionion though and no, I don't have a Yeti... wink

I still have my Matchbox Superkings model Matra Rancho (mancho-rancho as I called it) at home somewhere, and being a small boy I would pester my dad to buy one.

Oddly, when the Skoda Roomster (?) came out, I thought it was an utter crock, however the Yeti brought back memories of my old Matchbox toy Rancho, and I really really want one!!!

Morning BSR, unfortuanetly for my sins this is the car that my wife picked when we had the kids. We have the 1.6 petrol version, not the seven seat version so the boot is quite a reaonable size.
With regards to whether its any good, honestly as a runaround for someone with kids its actually not too bad.
Excellent driving position, but it will not give you any sort of enjoyment as a car to drive.
We have had it 2 and a half years and the wife loves it, so i guess its staying for the time being.

Mine is nowhere near as good condition as this one now, and I'm sure if I could find it I would find it painted in some military shade

I run a Qashqai 1.5 dci as a works car. Ive covered 54k in just under two years and have to say, its a good car. Its well spec'ed, does 50mpg, comfortable and can cruise at motorway speeds.
I have not had any kids in the back but have had 3 mates in the back and they fitted fine.
I have fitted a tow bar so I can tow my trailer and kit car around to trackdays. The little 1.5 does well and returns 30mpg while towing.
Only problem has been a set of rear dampers which was a known problem on a certain batch of cars.

Just to add- quite fun to drive in a high body roll kind of way. Surprising amounts of grip for what it is!

Teabagger- is the 1.5d underpowered?
I am attracted by the economy of that one but 1.5 seems an awfully small engine for what is a quite big car

Are they all four wheel drive? Are they a "proper" four wheel drive system, or a faux system that will still get stuck in the snow?

THis was my assumption!
Fortunately I get to have a car too, so driving fun doesn't really matter and wives don't really understand that concept anyway. She thought my GT-R was a bit dull!!!!
