If you can afford a facelift car then go for one of them.

And make sure you get one with Recaro seats. smile

I'm pretty sure the cup will have less creature comforts inside and will have a stiffer chassis.

Not trying to take anything away from these, but if performance and handling are you main concerns then maybe something like a RWD car?? Elise maybe? Or if it's just outright pace and grip an Evo of some kind.

Late reply, but a subject I'm familiar with...

The 225 is a great "compromise" car. If you need practicality but want reasonable performance then the Megane is a good choice. I know that sounds like a cheap radio ad, but it's true! I've got a 225 Lux, so I've got leather, climate, electric bobs and bits and extra thingamabobs. It goes well, the handling is good for a megane sized car (I still get the grin factor when I go for a drive) and the reliability issues aren't what they were.

I've had mine for two years. The longest I owned a car since I had a 172.

He pretty much summed it up, the lux is the one with the optional extras basically! Pretty sure performance wise there isn't a difference, you want more get the 230 f1! Its the mutts.

The cup and Lux are just as much fun in all honesty, the only time you'd notice the difference is when your giving it a serious serious pasting!
Still great fun! How much can you pick one up for now 8k?
Don't get me wrong I do see the appeal for a vx but just not big enough really! The megane sport is the best at what it does for the money!

Evo's done a buying guide on the RS Megane, the Trophy was the same spec as the (IIRC new shape) cup, but with more toys.

It's not a bad little summary: http://www.evo.co.uk/buying/buyingguide/231693/ren...

If it's a family car I'd go for a leon cupra if you can find one at right money.
