I really want a Lancia Thema 8.32....

Not sure why, its just one of those cars that you can look past all the negatives (LHD, italian electrics, spares you probably cant buy for love or money these days etc etc) because well, its got a Ferrari engine innit
oh, and that fab pop up boot spoiler!
I read there were only 9 offical UK cars sold, i suppose you can get one from Europe easier? Anyone know if the build quality was better than the (non existent) build of the normal Themas? I cant even remember the last time i saw a Thema on the road ..

I owned a Ph3 Thema Turbo for getting on for 7 years. I did about 100,000 miles in it and apart from expected replacements (shocks, discs etc) only had one failure, an oil leak which require the head welding. The build quality was very good for it's day so I don't think you have much to worry about there.
Your biggest worry will be finding one that hasn't been owned by someone who couldn't afford the maintenance, these cars were seriously cheap 5-6 years ago and I suspect some ended up in the hands of dreamers. Most of the common parts are available from the Thema Consortium, obviously the unique bits are harder to come by.
All the best with your search!

I think they are so rare because the turbo was pretty much as quick but presumably a lot cheaper, but the only one to have is the V8. Such a crazy car, insane but brilliant. You just wouldn't get that sort of thing nowerdays.

There was an engine for sale in Holland not long ago, it had everything needed to run it, as in it was still on the subframe with the gearbox, driveshafts, uprights and brakes still with it.
I was looking as I thought a Ferrari V8 in a hillclimb single seater would be quite cool.
I think mechanical spares would be available, mainly because they suffered from tinworm somewhat. A cool car though.

So did the Thema and Saab 9000 have the same designer ?
Looking at th rear 3/4 picture they are so similar.
164 / 405 / 605 all designed by same person for sure !
Thema, SAAB 9000, 164 and Fiat Croma were all based on the same chassis.Looking at th rear 3/4 picture they are so similar.

I used to work in a Lancia dealer in the early nineties and was lucky enough to be taken out in one of these. They didn't sell many as they were so much more expensive than the turbo which was just as quick.
