vehicle check for 1986 escort rs turbo that i own:

Colour changes There is no record of this registration being subject to a colour change.

Plate Transfer This registration has been involved in a plate change, please call 0844 482 1948 if further investigation is required.

Scrapped There is no record of this registration being scrapped.

Exported There is no record of this registration being exported.

Stolen This registration was recorded stolen by an insurance company on 15 Jul 1992.

Stolen & Recovered There is no record of this registration being stolen & recovered.

Insurance Write-off There is no record of this registration being written-off.

Vehicle I.D. Check There is no record of this registration being subject to a Vehicle Identity Check.

i am currently selling this vehicle but decided to do my vehicle check as bought from a mate and was advised all was ok. as you can see it is showing as recorded as stolen by insurance company in 1992, but not showing as stolen and recovered and not an insurance write off. Could it be that the registration is showing this but the car itself was never stolen, as has had registration change.

Just would like to be honest with anyone buying because they will probably do there own checks.

Any help would be great.
Thanks
Jo

You need to clarify if the stolen bit refers to the plate on the vehicle now (Which may have been on a different vehicle at the time) or the plate that was on the vehicle at the time.

I wonder if this might be a clue of some kind?

When the man answers you could say "If you please, sir, pray tell me what date the plate change was effected on" and then you would know.

thanks

I thought i would just see if anyone else had come across this before and if the details of registrations went onto cars or if the check was for the car only.

I am going to phone the number but they are closed until tomorrow that is why i posted on here, just being impatient.

Thanks

Is the car a C or D reg ?, how many numbers follow the first letter ?

If it's A or B reg or it's only got 1 or 2 numbers after the first letter then it will probably be related to the plate not the car. If it's C or D reg , followed by 3 numbers and 3 letters it's unlikely to have been on another car ( unless all 3 numbers are the same eg 333 555 etc)

Its C Reg with 3 numbers and 3 letters. Could that have been assigned to the car if the original owner wanted to keep the plate that was on? Or some one could have put a private plate on at one point then transfered it back off??

i think i will just have to wait and see when i call mycarcheck tomorrow and hopefully they will enlighten me. Just keep my fingers crossed that its the reg that was stolen. Although it doesn't explain why it is only registered as stolen with the insurance but not then changed to stolen and recovered????
