Hit a cat tonight.

Not fun. Was on my way home going along Great Northern Road in Aberdeen, for those that know it. and a cat darts out from the parked cars at the side, thunk.

pulled over and went to check on it, not bloody or anything but dead. must have just hit its head with the bumper and it went straight away.

Phoned the number on the collar and explained it to the owners, said that i moved her to the side of the road. and they were very simpathetic and I felt truley gutted for them.


Was traveling along in that direction and the side of the road was filled with cars and it came from between the bins and a car.

Not fun and was so quick I couldn't do anything about it.


only passed my test on friday too, its an experience i suppose.

At least you were sensible enough to phone the owners, well done for that. Sometimes you really cannot do anything to prevent accidents.

There is nothing worse than being woken up by one of the neighbours the following morning, and having to scrape the family pet off the road because someone has just left it for other traffic to run over. It's utterly fking horrible.

Unlucky but you did all you could, these things happen. I hit a cat years ago on a 40mph road, I just caught a flash of something at the side of the car and then felt the bump. I looked in my mirror and actually saw fur (I think) in the air. I stopped straight away but couldn't see any sign of it. Hopefully it either recovered or ran away and died quickly without suffering too much.

My girlfriend hit a dog which darted across the road, in front of it's owners, while she was on her way to a job interview just last month. Dog dies.

Feel sorry for her. can't imagine doing a job interview after hitting an animal. hope she was alright for it.

You did the right thing - well done for moving it and phoning the owners. Many people are too gutless to do that.

Unfortunately accidents like this are a fact of life, sometimes there's little you can do to avoid an animal.

Good attitude, I've unfortunately killed all sorts from Deer to Ducks over the years & although every time is an unpleasant experience you do become slightly accustomed to it.

Could have been worse. A family member ran over/into a horse a while back. It had thrown its rider and jumped a hedge into the road!

Result - dead horse and a written off jag with a hoof print on the roof.

Ahh I know that road well. Quite a busy road though, can't have been the first time that's happened. Was only a few weeks ago it was a person that was killed there.

And yeah, such a bad feeling when you do that.

Was quite quiet, (10:15pm or so) and was getting dark. wasn't far from home either. Live down in Grandholm so was almost home clear

So far in the last month I've hit 2 birds (1 sparrow, went under, 1 pigeon, punted with the light guard) and a rabbit (ducked for the car in front, sat up and got clocked by the steering guard). Never had a month like it!

TBH, I think it's quite a good learning experience. Yes, it's awful what's happened, but you've seen just how quickly something can dart out infront of you in a built up area and how little you can do (sometimes)

The amount of people that belt up and down my road is frightening considering the amount of kids around.

ste experience, but you've got to take something from it. Good on you for doing the right thing by the owners. More than the sod that ran over my neighbours cat yesterday did..

I clocked a suicidal pigeon on the A1 in the truck, swooped straight infront of me. Feathers and bits everywhere. Git put a dent in the front panel.

I ran over a fox a few years ago. The stupid thing ran out into the road saw the headlights and instead of keep ing on going to the other side where it would of got away it decided to head back to the side of the road it came from. It went under the drivers side wheels (both front and rear). Amazingly it had not even left a scratch on the bumper. All the lights were in one piece as well.

I genuinely mean it,
Couple weeks ago my baby sister's (13yr old) cat was run over,
So if anyone in the Wyke Regis area of Weymouth, Dorset hit a grey and black tortoise shell kitten please OWN UP!
Anyways the complete and utter C T didnt bother to stop or call the number on his collar,
Cost a monkey in vet bills,
Disgraceful.
At least someone cares about cats!
