My Golf starts and runs ok while cold, but starts to misfire under load @ around 3000 revs (65-70 MPH.

When go pedal is flat to the floor the car runs ok and no misfire.

It has had a new ECU, coil and distributor.

Dont want to spend much more money on this daily, any ideas please?

A dirty MAF usually makes the car do this. A common Golf issue.

Mass Air Filter = MAF

Think you can follow some DIY guides on cleaning them with carb cleaner etc. Might do the trick.

HT Leads

Start simple. These aren't bad cars generally.

Thanx for all your replys guys, Niel you were bang on mate.

I have owned this car since it was 2 years old, it has been well seviced.

Work carried out in trying to find out what was wrong with this car was done by two VW main dealers in Glasgow and not once was the MAF mentioned.

The cost for parts (that made no difference) was around £400, the cost of the cleaning spray from Halfords £3.99 plus 25 mins work.

Just goes to show these forums have value

Thanx again,

And MAP is Manifold absolute pressure, which does the same job as a MAF sensor, but in a different way. Not sure what an ABF engine has.
